Trip to LLangollen! Yes please

Hello and Welcome,

We have a great trip lined up to LLangollen. We have done this trip numerous times, in fact we have taken nearly 1000 people on this day trip, so it’s fair to say that we know every blade of grass in this area of Wales!!

Wales is such a beautiful and picturesque landscape especially around LLangollen and surroundings hills. When we first came to this part of Wales we were struck by it’s beauty. The grass just seems to be a lovely shade of green and looks so lush. Anyway back to it. The day is split into 3 parts for this day trip. It begins with a canal cruise over the very iconic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and along through the Vale of LLangollen. The cruise is operated by Peter the owner along with his son Howard, who has run his operation since 2006. Peter, believe it or not is in his 80’s but you would not think it. His energy and charisma will have you thinking he is a good 20 years younger! He is enthusiastic and will be the perfect host. If there is enough time you should be able to get a cup of Tea/ Coffee in his onsite cafe and explore his small museum before the cruise begins.

The Aqueduct has vast history, it took 10 years to build and was built in 1805. It is the creation of Thomas Telford who was one of the leading industrial civil engineers. His creation carries the LLangollen canal across the River Dee to North East Wales. It is such an iconic structure that it has been given Grade 1 Listing and World Heritage status. It is a real structure of beauty and to have a cruise over it is is the icing on the cake. (Have a look at the video on our Facebook page!)

Afterwards we will head onto the lovely town of LLangollen. There is so much to see and do here. You have the fast flowing river dee that flows through the centre of the town. The town is made up of lots of little independent shops that are worth a visit. For eating, there is lots of cafes and restaurants, so if you want an informal lunch or something more formal then is something to suit.

We will take in the very stunning Horeshoe Pass in which you will see the most beautiful Landscape. The pass meaning ‘Pass of the cold stream’ separates the LLantysilio mountain to the west and Marilyn mountain to the east. You will climb to the highest point of 1854 feet. Whilst you drive over the pass you will see the vast slate open cast quarries which are just a sight to see!

This is a great day trip not to be missed, if you have any questions just please get in touch with us and we will be happy to help!

Regards
